The Yada Digital Wireless Backup Camera with 4.3″ Dash Monitor is a budget to mid range wireless backup camera and monitor brought to us from Yada, a subsidiary company of Winplus. It forms the mid point in their reverse camera and monitor packages and comes equipped, as you’d expect from the title, with a 4.3″ screen for mounting in the drivers cabin.

As noted, this is the middle of the road selection from Yada’s range, the only difference being the monitor sizes available with the other packs. It’s also available with a 3.5″ monitor and a 5″ packs. We are looking at the middle of the road 4.3″ version.
Yada BT54860 wireless Backup Camera
The camera included in all the packs is the same and there is not a lot of information published regarding it’s specifications. It’s noted as waterproof with a class of IP67 but there has been a lot of customer complains about the seal on the camera being compromised, allowing moisture in. Yada have been good about replacing these under their 1 year manufacturers warranty so there is some peace of mind offered there. Being a wireless system, the install is quite easy, you needing to individually powering the components from the reverse light and the 12v cigarette lighter for the camera and monitor respectively. Yada provide a number of videos below designed to help with installation on several different vehicle types. The camera has an angle of 110 degrees which is middle of the road for a camera like this, but could be better. The camera comes with “night vision” mode which makes night time quality acceptable but not good.
Although a mid ranged camera, one of the best feature on this camera is the quality of the wireless signal. It works ok, even alongside bluetooth in most cases but there have been reports of interference as you’d expect with a wireless device. It lives up to it’s claim of 30ft/10m signal range and is suitable to be install on RVs etc. Again, the monitor is fairly easy to install, mounting to the windshield with a suction mount and being powered from the 12v cigarette lighter.

The Monitor supplied with the Yada BT54860 is a basic affair. It’s picture is sharp enough for use and comes with distance lines for a parking assist feature. The viewing angle of the monitor is acceptable and is easily viewable from your seat without leaning forward to view. It’s also worth noting the good operating temperature range of -10c to 50c

Camera Seal Problems
A number of customers have reported moisture leaking into the camera enclosure giving a foggy view on the monitor. Yada have been good about replacing these cameras with compromised seals under their 1 year manufacturers warranty.

A user who removed the camera after 3 days of use noted rust found on the fixing screws. A touch worrying after only 3 days.
Is the Yada BT54860 wireless Backup Camera for you?
The Yada BT54860’s main selling point is it’s impressive wireless that suffers from minimal interference. This camera would best suit someone living in a built up area such as a busy town or city who would like a cheap wireless solution.
If you live in a more rural area, you could get the Peak PKC0RB for less money and similar quality. If you can stretch a little further, you might be better with the Tadibrothers wireless Reverse Cam and 5″ Monitor.
