Transcend DrivePro 200 Camera and Lens
The camera fitted to the device is capable of filming up to 1080p at 30fps with a total bitrate of 15Mbps. It has an F/2.0 aperture with a 7 glass lens, filming at 160 degree angle. This affords the DP 200 great quality recording during daylight and good video quality at night.
Transcend DrivePro 200 Hardware
The device has an integrated G-Sensor that is designed to detect an impact and automatically save the footage on the internal memory. It comes complete with a 2.4″ colour LCD screen and also includes a generous 16GB microSDHC class 10 memory card.
Transcend DrivePro 200 Wi-Fi
The main feature of this device is the built in Wi-Fi connectivity. This allows a smartphone equipped owner to perform a variety of actions without un-mounting the device, a handy feature of a device of this size. With a smartphone (Android or iOS) you can view saved video on the camera, within wireless range. Backup files directly to your phone. Delete files from the camera to free up storage space and configure various settings on the device.
The only downside is the limit of the Wi-Fi technology’s transfer speeds. Any long clips can take up to a few minutes to transfer, with each 1 minutes of 1080p footage taking 100mb of storage space (0.1GB).

Transcend DrivePro 200 Features
F/2.0 aperture which gives good results in both daylight and low light conditions allowing you to have the best quality image no matter what time of day you are driving in.

The build in gravity sensor allows the camera to automatically detect an impact and automatically save the footage, safe, to the memory card. This can also be activated with a manual button incase the footage that needs to be recorded is not a collision.
DrivePro Smartphone App
A downloadable app for your Android or IOs device that allows you to remotely control and back-up your critical footage. This will be especially useful if you need to give your memory card as evidence to insurance companies or the police.
Included 16GB Class 10 microSDHC
The DrivePro 200 comes with an included microSDHC that allows you to film up to 240 minutes of 1080p footage at 30 fps or 480 minutes 720p footage at 30 fps.
There are a few reported faults with the camera that have been reported by multiple owners. They are as follows:
Internal Clock Resets
The DP200 is designed to run on power directly from the vehicle it’s mounted in and because of this, only has a very small internal battery to be used in case of an emergency (such as a road collision). If the device is mounted in a vehicle that is used infrequently, you may find the device will reset itself and need to go through the setup procedure. Transcend themselves state that the camera should retain it’s settings running from internal battery for around 3-4 days.
Failure to turn on when power is applied
In some rare cases, it has been reported that the device fails to turn on when the engine is started. The cause of this is unknown but doesn’t appear to be related to loose cable etc, This is easy to notice (if the screen doesn’t turn on) and is also easy to fix (by manually pressing the on button located on the camera). This issues has no permanent fix but doesn’t appear to affect a large percentage of the devices.
Is the Transcend DrivePro 200 right for you?
The main selling point of the DP200 is the Wi-Fi connectivity and will largely dictate whether or not this camera is worth buying. If you particularly want or need the Wi-Fi features to work with your smartphone, this is a keenly priced camera with this functionality with competitive specs to other Wi-Fi cameras in this price bracket.
If the Wi-Fi features is not something you need or see the value in, then there are other, cheaper cameras that match and exceed the other specifications of this camera available that would be more suitable for you.
